About
I started writing because I couldn't stop thinking about everything that's happening all around us.
People have changed. Maybe people you care about have changed. Or maybe you've just watched the news and wondered how we got here—how millions of Americans came to believe things that seem obviously false, defend things they would have condemned a few years ago, and treat politics like a war instead of a disagreements and compromise.
I'm not a journalist or an academic. I'm just someone who's been paying attention, reading the research, and trying to make sense of it. This blog is my attempt to share what I've learned—about indoctrination, about the media ecosystem that built this moment, about why facts don't work the way we wish they did, and about what we might actually be able to do.
I believe in being honest, even when it's uncomfortable. That means acknowledging failures on all sides, not just the ones that are easy to criticize. It means trying to understand rather than just condemn. And it means holding onto hope without pretending the situation isn't serious.
This blog is part of We The Protagonists—a community I'd like to grow built on a simple idea: in every story, a hero has to step up. We're living through such a story right now, and the outcome isn't written yet.
You can find WTP on BlueSky, X and Facebook.
Want to Help?
WTP is not an organization, we don't take donations—and honestly, we'd rather you donate to organizations already doing the work (like the ACLU, your local bail fund, or mutual aid groups in your community). It's my hope that We The Protagonists can be a community where people support each other, share resources, and figure out how to actually do something—together.
But if you want to support what we're building here, there are a few ways to help:
- Share our content. If something resonates, pass it along. That's how we grow.
- Suggest resources. Know something that should be on this page? Tell us.
- Just show up. Engage, comment, be part of the conversation. Community is built one person at a time.
Got skills you'd like to contribute? Ideas for how we could do this better? Reach out to us at getinvolved@wetheprotagonists.com.
No pressure. No guilt. Whatever you've got to give is enough.
